Soulframe Preludes 16

Soulframe's Preludes 16 update gives returning testers more control over their equipment, but the September 18 release is only part of the story. Of Hook and Hound has already received four listed hotfixes, with the fourth making substantial changes to Wolfpup training and chest rewards. This is an evolving pre-alpha, not a finished game entering its first content season.

Weapon Progression Gains a Deliberate Route

The central equipment addition is Striking. Dismantling weapons teaches Tuvalkane their Tempers, the properties that can then be applied to eligible gear. The original notes require a level-30 weapon, a rank-three Tuvalkane and completion of The Steelsinger, alongside a learned Temper that suits the weapon.

That changes the purpose of an unwanted drop. It can contribute toward a property you actually want rather than simply occupy an inventory slot. However, dismantling before Tuvalkane is present does not retroactively bank that knowledge. The order of progression matters.

Striking also spends resources, and replacing a property is permanent unless you pay to apply it again. That makes experimentation possible without making each decision free. Fishing, dynamic weather and Wolfpup systems broaden the update beyond weapon stats.

Hotfix 4 Reworks Companion Choices

The fourth hotfix's official notes let players allocate trained Wolfpup stats themselves. Existing stat allocations were reset while training progress was retained. Selection remains permanent for now; a possible respec system is still a future consideration.

Companion auras also divide their Virtue benefits between Guts, Endurance and Heart. Returning players should inspect their companion before treating an older build recommendation as current. The reset is an opportunity to choose, not a loss of all training.

Loot changes give another reason to revisit exploration. Rare and common chests now always provide resources under the listed eligibility rules, while dungeon rare chests receive additional reward possibilities. These are adjustments to the reward structure, not a published guarantee of any particular farming rate.

Preludes Still Means Pre-Alpha

Digital Extremes' FAQ explicitly describes Preludes as an early development phase. As checked on October 4, access has returned to a closed invitation system after the TennoCon signup window, with weekly invitations for later applicants.

The developer hopes to preserve progress but does not promise that major future changes can never require adjustments. For Warframe players curious about Soulframe, the sensible expectation is a test whose progression rules can move under your feet. Join to explore and give feedback, not because a numbered update implies launch-ready permanence.
