Kingmakers Playtest Access

Kingmakers has a Steam Playtest signup, but requesting access is not the same as receiving an invitation. As checked on October 4, 2026, its store page offers a request button and says players will be notified when the developer is ready for more participants. The full game still carries a Coming soon release label.

Requesting a Place in the Test

Visit the Kingmakers Steam page while signed in and use the Playtest request option. Do not confuse that action with adding the game to your wishlist: one expresses interest in testing, while the other follows the commercial release.

Valve's Steamworks documentation explains that developers can admit players in batches or use an open-signup setting. Steam emails players when they are added to a requested Playtest, and their status also appears on the game's store page. The presence of the button therefore does not establish how quickly a particular account will be accepted.

There is no useful reason to plan a group session around an unconfirmed request. Wait until everyone has access and the test is actually playable before treating it as an evening's activity.

Modern Weapons Meet Medieval Command

Redemption Road's game combines direct action with battlefield orders. The advertised setup sends a modern fighter into medieval England, armed with weapons and vehicles far removed from the surrounding armies. Players can move between fighting personally and directing their forces.

The commercial game's description lists online co-op for four players, with attacking castles and defending strongholds among the examples. That gives prospective groups a useful picture of the intended experience, but it is not a verified feature checklist for every test build. A Playtest can be narrower than the finished game's store description.

An Invitation Is Not Permanent Ownership

Steam Playtest is free for participants and uses a separate app from the commercial game. Valve gives developers control over when it is playable, including the ability to stop a test. Admission is consequently neither a purchase nor a guarantee of uninterrupted access through launch.

The current Kingmakers requirements listing is also too sparse to judge a PC by: it specifies Windows 10 but does not provide a complete CPU, GPU and memory target. Leave hardware conclusions open until fuller guidance arrives. For now, the concrete action is simple: request a place, watch for Steam's notification and read the developer's instructions for the particular build you receive.
