Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action-exploration game set in 1499, as monstrous creatures descend on a burning Paris. Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose hunt through the city with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, but Rose becomes entangled in a conspiracy beneath the looming castle. The story follows her effort to save Paris, 23 years after the events of Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse.
Whip play extends beyond striking enemies: Rose can swing through the environment like a trapeze artist, then use the whip’s movement options to close in during fast-paced combat. Exploration also feeds into equipment choices. Weapons span seven categories, while Relics offer offensive and defensive effects that can be combined to shape Rose’s battle style.
Boss encounters include familiar figures such as Death, Medusa and Carmilla, alongside new adversaries including Joan of Arc. Defeated bosses become Arcana sealed in tarot cards, whose skills let Rose cast spells and gain special actions. Gothic architecture and recognizable Castlevania elements are reworked with vivid, refined visuals, giving this entry a distinctive setting rooted in the series’ atmosphere.
