Ys X: Nordics sends adventurer Adol Christin and Norman pirate Karja Balta into the Obelia Gulf, where they confront the mysterious immortal Griegr and the danger facing the region’s people. Their unlikely partnership is the heart of the story: two heroes with different strengths must work together to determine the gulf’s fate. The high-seas setting gives this action RPG a broader frame than a journey made entirely on foot.
Combat centers on the Cross Action System, which lets players control Adol and Karja separately or together. Their distinct abilities can be combined against enemies, while building the Revenge Gauge enables powerful attacks. Outside combat, Mana abilities support exploration and puzzle-solving: characters can grapple and slide through dungeons, break obstacles, make platforms, and uncover hidden treasures or important points. These systems connect the pair’s cooperation to both fighting and navigating the world.
The Sandras, the heroes’ sailing ship, adds ocean travel, naval battles, and the discovery of uncharted islands to the adventure. Steam lists Ys X: Nordics as single-player as well as supporting multiplayer, co-op, and shared or split-screen co-op.
