Yooka and Laylee are treasure hunters whose tale begins with a shipwreck and the discovery of a valuable book. Its Pagies are stolen by Capital B, a greedy capitalist, setting the pair on a journey through imaginative worlds to recover them. Yooka-Replaylee retells that adventure through a storybook-style presentation, with new sequences woven into the narrative.
Its platforming is built around a sharpened moveset, including new moves and combos intended to make traversal more expressive. The worlds also offer revised and new challenges, rearranged collectibles, and additional areas. Pagies are central to exploration, while an adventurers’ notebook, fast-travel bookmarks, and purchasable hints provide ways to navigate the search. Players can equip multiple Tonics to customise their playstyle, and collect Q.U.I.D.S. to spend on rewards or mini-challenges.
The adventure also folds in a separate isometric platforming game starring Rextro, whose arcade challenges are found throughout the main journey. That mix of exploration, collectible hunting, platforming challenges, and an embedded arcade-style activity gives the game a distinctly single-player shape.
