Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) pulls Kazuma Kiryu back into clan conflict after the assassination of Tojo Clan chairman Yukio Terada threatens the peace he has made with Haruka Sawamura. Kiryu travels to Sotenbori to try to broker peace, but Ryuji Goda, the rival clan’s Dragon of Kansai, is intent on war. That clash gives the story its central tension: Kiryu is trying to prevent another conflict while confronting an opponent who embraces it.
Combat is direct, close-quarters brawling built around combos, heat-action moves and takedowns that use the environment. The game presents its street fights as both accessible and strategic, with the surroundings part of the action rather than a backdrop. Outside combat, Kamurocho and Sotenbori offer a contrasting rhythm of restaurants, bars and leisure activities, including karaoke, cabaret, batting cages and blackjack. A separate Majima Saga adds a story about Goro Majima set between the events of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2.
The mix of dramatic clan conflict, physical street fights and entertainment-district diversions makes the game’s identity broader than its combat alone. The separate Majima scenario also places another character’s story alongside Kiryu’s central effort to avert war.
