Worms Revolution keeps the series’ familiar 2D turn-based battles while presenting its environments in 3D. Its premise is comic worm-on-worm conflict, but the tactical choices are concrete: build a team from Soldier, Scout, Scientist and Heavy classes, with any combination allowed in a match. Players can also customize their worms’ appearance and voices, giving teams a distinctive personality alongside their battlefield roles.
The setting adds hazards to the familiar strategy. Dynamic water can appear across a landscape or feature in weapons and utilities, while destructible physics objects can release fire, poison or water when they explode. New tools include water weapons, a Plug Hole utility for draining water, and the Stick Up, which steals from an opponent’s inventory. These systems make terrain and equipment part of the tactical picture, rather than leaving every turn to weapon choice alone.
The game offers campaign and puzzle missions for solo play, as well as online and local multiplayer battles for up to four players. Deathmatch, Forts and Classic modes provide different structures for those matches, while the Level Editor lets players create battle environments.
