Set in 1961, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus casts B.J. “Terror-Billy” Blazkowicz as a resistance fighter in an America still under Nazi rule. After the defeat of General Totenkopf brings only a brief respite, Blazkowicz must help unite scattered resistance leaders and challenge the regime’s hold on the country. The story’s journey spans settings including Roswell, New Orleans and a Manhattan devastated by nuclear attack, giving the conflict a stark American backdrop.
Combat is built around an arsenal of advanced weapons and direct, aggressive action against regime soldiers and machine commanders. The Laserkraftwerk is a high-powered laser weapon, while the gas-powered Dieselkraftwerk launches rapid-fire grenades; pistols, automatic weapons and axes offer further options. Weapons can be upgraded or dual-wielded, and Blazkowicz has new combat abilities. These tools frame the game as a fast-moving first-person shooter focused on taking the fight to technologically equipped enemies.
The design combines a personal resistance story with a campaign to bring together allies, protect friends and family, and undermine the regime. Returning characters such as Anya, Caroline and Fergus appear alongside newcomers including Horton and Grace, while Frau Engel and her soldiers stand among the opposition. MachineGames’ sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order pairs this cast and political premise with varied environments and an arsenal that supports both ranged attacks and close-quarters violence.
