Wildermyth is a character-driven tactical RPG set in the Yondering Lands, a hand-painted fantasy world with unusual foes such as telepathic insect-dragons and clockwork undead. Its procedurally generated heroes begin with distinct histories and personalities, then develop through player choices, relationships, aging and encounters. Rather than treating a campaign as a fixed cast’s unchanging adventure, the game makes its characters’ evolving lives part of the story.
Battles reward teamwork and careful positioning. Heroes can flank enemies, use cover-like walling tactics, and wield mystical interfusion to reshape the battlefield with explosive magic. Decisions carry into character arcs: a hero might change after trusting a wolf god, pursue a romance that brings shared benefits, or survive a defeat with a maiming rather than die outright. Characters who retire or fall can also become part of a pantheon, ready to return in later adventures.
The campaign format supports both solo play and cooperative multiplayer, where friends customize and control their own heroes; the store recommends up to five players.
