Wild Bastards sends two surviving members of a notorious outlaw gang across the galaxy with the Drifter, a sentient spacecraft. Their goal is to find and resurrect their fallen companions while fleeing toward the mythical Homestead. The campaign’s premise makes rebuilding the gang central to the journey, not just a matter of selecting a character: each of the thirteen outlaws has distinct weaponry, abilities, personality, and a growth tree.
Planet visits combine strategic choices with compact first-person firefights. Before landing, players assess terrain, enemies, and planetary traits, then choose which gang members to take. Showdowns put them against enemies who use cover, flank, and deploy special moves. Between fights, resources can heal injured outlaws and support leveling or relationship management; those relationships matter because feuding characters may not work well together. Procedurally generated sectors and planets vary in conditions such as gravity, terrain, and weather, giving the campaign’s route and tactical decisions a changing backdrop.
After the main campaign, Challenge Mode offers sequences of challenge sectors with increasing difficulty and mutators.
