In We Were Here, two players are stranded in a frozen wasteland and separated inside an abandoned castle. One is confined to a secluded area while the other searches the halls, turning escape into a shared problem with an unusual imbalance of information. The castle’s atmosphere draws on an Antarctic setting and a fictional location inspired by Castle Rock.
A walkie-talkie is the pair’s link: players describe what they see and work through room-by-room puzzles using voice communication. Each player has a different game experience, so progress depends on exchanging clues clearly rather than simply exploring side by side. The game requires both players to have a working PC-compatible microphone, making spoken coordination central to its design.
As the free pilot episode in a series of standalone cooperative puzzle adventures, We Were Here pairs escape-room-style problem solving with an atmospheric thriller premise, and even suggests trying the experience with a stranger.
