Warlander casts players as immortal champions fighting for control of magical lands and powers. Its medieval-fantasy battles center on enemy strongholds: armies clash in player-versus-player skirmishes, then try to breach defenses and destroy the opposing Core. The game combines MOBA, role-playing and hack-and-slash elements, setting individual combat within coordinated siege objectives.
Before each battle, players vote on a strategy and join a squad with a defined purpose. Defense squads protect their castle and build anti-siege weaponry; assault squads seek a way through enemy defenses, while Special Ops analyzes the battle and responds to changing threats. Capturing towers enables faster redeployment, and awakened idols can bring effects such as meteors, storms or battle robots. Combat emphasizes timing, with blocks, guard breaks, parry counters, critical strikes and combos available in encounters.
Warlander’s deck system gives players up to five designed vessels, each with its own appearance and battle skills, and lets them choose a deck before a battle. Battlefield success earns valor titles that permit better armor, weapons, skills and talents, while helping diversify a player’s selection of decks.
