Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a cooperative action game set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world. Its five returning heroes confront a combined threat: a Chaos army alongside the swarming Skaven. That premise frames each fight as a struggle against overwhelming enemy forces, with victory depending on the heroes and their allies standing together.
The game centers on intense first-person melee combat and fighting through hordes alongside up to three friends. Players choose among five characters, each with three branching careers, then develop their approach through talent trees and a broad selection of weapon types. Difficulty climbs through Recruit, Veteran, Champion and Legend, giving the combat a progression from lower to higher challenge rather than a single fixed test.
The setting also extends beyond a generic fantasy battlefield, placing those fights in the war-ravaged lands of a dying world.
