Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Legions is a collectible card game set during the Horus Heresy, the civil war that fractures the Imperium of Mankind. Players choose a warlord and allegiance, then build a deck around one of the era’s armies, from the Space Marine Legions and Custodes to the forces of Mars and Chaos. The setting’s opposing loyalties shape the conflict, while the card battles bring its factions into direct competition.
Its central design pairs a large card pool with faction-specific ways of fighting. More than 100 warlords offer distinct abilities and special cards, while over 1,300 cards provide options for assembling an army’s deck. Each army has traits tailored to its character: the Emperor’s Children pursue carefully planned turns, whereas the World Eaters favor a more direct, bloody approach. That contrast gives matchups their own tactical identity rather than making every faction feel interchangeable.
The game combines competitive and solo play. Ranked battles trace a route through major Heresy battlefields toward Terra, while single-player campaigns revisit clashes from the novels and pit an initial 15-card deck against increasingly difficult enemies. Draft events add time-limited arenas inspired by famous battles. Players can also join Lodges for chat, deck sharing, practice matches and community tournaments, making the card game’s faction strategy part of a broader social and competitive experience.
