Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun casts players as Malum Caedo, a Space Marine sent to retrieve a fragment of a mysterious power source from Graia, a Forge World threatened by Cultists, Traitors and Chaos Daemons. The mission gives its run-and-gun action a clear purpose: push through the corrupted world and confront the forces of Chaos while serving the Imperium.
Combat emphasizes mobility and an arsenal built for close-quarters impact. Caedo can dash and jump, carve through enemies with a chainsword, and fight with firearms including the Shotgun, Meltagun and Heavy Bolter, alongside different types of grenades. The game frames this visceral gunplay in a classic first-person-shooter style, with pixel art, sprites and retro cutscenes that evoke the look of 1990s games. Its environments range from bastions and cathedrals to corrupted canyons and hellish furnaces, giving the purge a varied, war-torn backdrop.
Alongside its single-player campaign, Boltgun offers a horde mode built around annihilating endless enemy swarms. Its Space Marine power fantasy, fast movement and retro presentation define the experience across those modes.
