Wargroove follows Mercia, a young queen forced to flee when war reaches the Kingdom of Cherrystone. Her search for allies unfolds through animated pixel-art scenes and turn-based battles, set among four rival factions. That narrative gives the strategy a clear fantasy frame, while a cast of commanders brings distinct personalities and motivations to the conflict.
The commanders also shape the battlefield through Grooves: individual special moves that become available when a commander’s meter is full. Alongside the campaign, Arcade mode pits players against five opponents in succession, while Puzzle mode challenges them to win in a single turn. Custom editors extend the design beyond those built-in encounters, letting players make and share maps, cutscenes, and campaigns. Multiplayer supports competitive and cooperative skirmishes, with local and online play and customizable rules.
Its listed multiplayer options include PvP and co-op, online and shared-screen play, giving the game both competitive and collaborative settings without losing its turn-based strategy focus.
