Set in 1985, Wargame: AirLand Battle imagines an incident in the North Sea igniting open conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. The sequel to Wargame: European Escalation places players in command of the military resources of the era, with a dynamic campaign framing the struggle. Its focus is not simply on individual clashes, but on assembling forces suited to a much larger confrontation.
Air power is a defining addition to the battlefield. Players choose from a roster of 750 units spanning tanks, aircraft, helicopters and infantry, then bring their army to battles across maps as large as 150 square kilometres. That breadth gives the strategy its combined-arms character: force selection and battlefield command sit at the center of the experience, rather than a single unit type. The game presents this scale through a new graphics engine and supports both solo play and online competition.
Those options sit beside the campaign and solo play, so Wargame: AirLand Battle offers both a single-player route into its alternate-history conflict and online battles built around commanding large forces.
