War of Rights is a multiplayer Civil War game set during the Maryland Campaign of September 1862. Its historical focus shapes both the setting and the way battles are organized: players choose regiments and ranks, then fight across recreations of Antietam, South Mountain and Harpers Ferry. Period uniforms, weapons, battlefield objectives and drill camps give the experience a strong emphasis on recreating the era rather than treating it as a generic battle backdrop.
The defining feature is coordinated formation play. Staying together lessens suppression effects and the team’s morale cost when players die, while also affecting the flag bearer’s respawn rate. Infantry, cavalry and artillery roles offer different ways to support an army, and the in-game 3D voice system serves communication across the field. Skirmishes, Picket Patrol, Conquest and Contention are designed around large-scale teamwork; company play and historically grounded classes further reinforce the game’s organized, group-oriented character.
The premise is not simply a large battlefield, but a period-specific simulation where formations, communication and regimental identity matter to how participants take part. Its scale and team structure make the number of people playing relevant to understanding the kind of encounter the game is designed to support.
