VTOL VR is a near-futuristic combat flight game designed specifically for virtual reality. Its cockpit is more than a view from the pilot’s seat: tracked controllers let players reach for flight controls and operate switches and buttons by hand. The design makes managing the aircraft part of the action, alongside keeping track of the situation and applying combat tactics.
Players can fly three distinct aircraft: the AV-42C tilt-jet, the F/A-26 fighter-attack jet, and the F-45A stealth multi-role jet. The game’s challenges span combat missions, vertical landings, carrier operations, and aerial refueling. Its flight systems include radar, targeting displays, flares, and chaff, while ejector seats and realistic vehicle physics add to the cockpit-focused simulation. Players can also use mission and map editors to create custom scenarios and share them with other pilots.
The mix of training scenarios, free flight, a story-mode campaign, and player-created missions offers different ways to approach its hands-on aviation design.
