Void War casts you as the commander of an ancient starship pushing toward the heart of a dying Empire. The journey pits your vessel against demented cultists, space pirates and Imperial soldiers in a dark techno-gothic setting populated by technocultist magi, deserters and demon lords. Its premise combines an interstellar military struggle with choices that affect the ship and the people serving aboard it.
Combat is built around managing the starship’s weapons, modules and reactor power, then arranging upgrades into combinations that can dismantle enemies. Those foes can assemble powerful combinations of their own, so the same systems that make your ship formidable also create a threat to contend with. Void War also puts crew management at the center of its strategy: enlist crew from six factions, equip them with wargear and send them into bloody boarding actions against enemy craft.
The game is listed as single-player, and its structure centers on individual runs through hundreds of randomly generated encounters, with each run weaving together a new story. Between encounters, recruits, artifacts and consequential choices shape a vessel and crew trying to survive a brutal, ever-changing galaxy.
