Virtual Desktop Classic brings a Windows computer into a virtual-reality headset, turning familiar desktop tasks into activities viewed in an immersive environment. The app supports Oculus Rift and Rift S, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets; it is not intended for Meta Quest or Pico. Rather than centering on a conventional campaign or competitive match, its premise is to make a computer’s media and applications accessible through a large virtual display.
That screen can be used to browse the web, watch movies or Netflix, and play games. The feature set also reaches beyond flat desktop viewing: users can play or stream YouTube 360 videos, view 360 photos, watch hardware-accelerated 360 video, and use 3D side-by-side video support. A multi-monitor setup, an environment editor for custom spaces, and Steam Workshop integration for environments give the app a configurable workspace character, while a game launcher with voice commands and dashboard integration connect it to other VR use.
Its distinctive appeal lies in combining everyday computer use, immersive video, customizable environments, and game access within supported PC-connected VR headsets.
