Vellum turns literary imagery into the setting for a co-op roguelike about defending books from the Torn. Players venture through mechanically distinct Tomes, where changing enemies and run-specific rules shape each journey. The premise gives the action a playful purpose: preserve the stories while deciding how their foes grow.
Combat centers on six colorful Signature Inks that define distinct classes, alongside a spellbook of more than twenty spells. Between runs, Scribes can improve their Ink through research and customize a Reading Nook in the Illuminated Library. These layered choices make each expedition about more than simply attacking whatever appears on the page.
The game supports solo play as well as co-op, with Swift Tales described as short-session roguelike runs for one to four players. Higher Binding Challenges offer an additional way to raise the difficulty, while the source also describes team play in Tome-themed raids.
