Set in eighteenth-century Europe, Vampire Legends: The True Story of Kisilova draws on the first documented case of vampirism. In the Serbian town of Kisilova, a series of unexplained deaths prompts residents to flee, while fears of another plague hang over the community. The heroine and a companion arrive as imperial emissaries tasked with investigating the deaths and preventing more of them. Their inquiry places the mystery, and the fate of the town, at the center of the adventure.
Progress comes through exploration and deduction rather than combat: players question witnesses, search the town’s locations, and solve puzzles. The companion can also come to the investigator’s aid. The game combines 21 hidden-object scenes with 36 mini-games, bringing varied activities into its investigation. Its 62 hand-painted areas depict remote parts of eighteenth-century Europe, while 14 characters provide encounters along the way. A hooded stranger trying to thwart the investigation adds another thread to unravel.
The listed format is single-player, so Kisilova’s case is presented as an individual adventure rather than a shared investigation. An additional adventure with multiple endings offers further narrative variation beyond the main investigation. The appeal is its blend of historical atmosphere, supernatural mystery, and varied point-and-click-style discovery.
