UNLIGHT:Revive frames its card battles around a grim fantasy conflict. The Goddess of Fire, dwelling in the Mountains of Madness, seeks revenge by creating an army of the dead. Players take the role of doll-like beings made by the witch, gathering warriors who died with unfinished business and helping them return to the real world. Their varied pasts, from nobles and outlaws to people who were murdered or took their own lives, feed a story built around mysteries about the witch’s aims and the bond between player and warrior.
Its play loop combines solo quests with character development and competitive deck tactics. In quest mode, players explore and conquer stages with character cards to earn treasure chests. Training and customization raise a character’s HP and attack or defense stats; characters can also learn individual special moves, whose effects depend on the conditions of a battle. Players then shape decks around approaches such as striking first, prioritizing attack or defense, or seeking balance. Those choices matter in Duel Mode, where players face one another in PvP and deck construction is central to battle strategy.
Questing supplies a route to treasure and card growth, while trained characters and tailored decks carry into duels. The result is a story-centered competitive training card game whose play format moves between solitary exploration and player-versus-player matchups.
