In Unforgiving Trials: The Space Crusade, a farmer named Jory accepts help from Cooper, a visitor from a ruined future, as lethal heat devastates the land. Cooper reveals that the catastrophe is engineered by an immortal tyrant manipulating the Sun and time itself. Jory and three other recruits are sent toward the tyrant’s stronghold, giving this indie RPG an apocalyptic science-fiction premise rooted in a world of farms, temples, and old legends.
The four recruits are not conventional warriors: each carries the genes of a hero from the past, and Cooper’s technology equips them to fight the tyrant’s forces. Players choose a class for each character, while personal traits distinguish them too: Jory is sturdier, and grifter Laura is more agile. Combat development comes through selecting new skills after leveling up. Encounters are fixed, so advancement does not depend on grinding through an open-ended supply of battles. The objective is to reach the Sun while confronting human enemies and mutated monsters.
The game is listed as single-player, placing its party of four within a solo-led adventure rather than a documented co-op mode. Its design combines character-building choices with a defined route toward a final confrontation, while the time-travel plot gives that journey its stakes: Cooper is trying to change history before the tyrant’s rule destroys both the present and the future.
