Set four years after a worldwide disaster, Undawn casts players as survivors in a world where infected hordes and rival humans pose overlapping threats. This free-to-play survival RPG blends PvE encounters with PvP, placing exploration and resource protection within an apocalyptic setting.
Survival reaches beyond combat. Players monitor indicators including hunger, hydration, health, vigor, body type, and mood, while weather and environmental conditions affect those measures in real time. The world spans varied terrain, from deserts and swamps to abandoned cities, with crafting, weapon use, shelter-building, and changing weather all part of the survival design. Interactive environmental items can also lead to special modes, alongside strongholds, side quests, and weekly events.
Players can customize their characters, trade weapons and resources, and build a base using a system offering more than 1,000 types and styles of furniture and structures. The design supports both solo survival and play with friends, while alliances between outposts offer another way to defend homes against infected. Vehicles, tactical gear, and distinct survivor factions broaden the choices available as players explore and contest territory.
