UMIGARI is a first-person harpoon fishing game set in the foggy waters off Japan. Its demo presents a solitary trip across the sea, where fishing is tied to a practical loop: aim and time each harpoon strike, sell the catch, then spend the proceeds on ship and equipment improvements.
That progression gives the fishing a wider purpose than collecting fish. Better ship speed and fuel capacity support journeys farther into the ocean, while exploration brings encounters with rarer fish, hidden finds, new islands and treasures. The game’s central tension is also clear in its premise: deeper waters may offer greater rewards, but the player must still make it back safely. As an adventure, casual and indie game listed for single-player, UMIGARI frames its action as an individual expedition rather than a shared fishing session.
The demo is a preview of that design, not a basis for assuming that every feature described for UMIGARI’s full game is included in the demo.
