Ultimate General: American Revolution casts players as the American Colonists fighting for territorial control across North America. Its campaign unfolds on a detailed three-dimensional map, where military command extends beyond moving troops: players build an army and navy, develop infrastructure, and manage the resources needed to sustain a war. That broad strategic layer gives the game a different scale from a battle-focused strategy title.
The design shifts between levels of command. On the global map, regiments and naval squadrons move in real time, while positioning a General enables direct control and tactical maneuvers. Zooming into a battle divides regiments into battalions, putting large numbers of units under detailed command. Terrain, cavalry flanking, deployment positions, and reinforcements all shape encounters. Reconnaissance adds uncertainty: reports can be delayed or intercepted, so orders may not reach troops when intended.
Campaign planning also involves raising and replenishing units, assigning officers, producing weapons and ammunition, and developing regions for supplies. Players organize headquarters departments whose officers influence combat, intelligence, and logistics as they gain experience.
