Tropico 3: Absolute Power is the first official expansion for Tropico 3, returning players to the role of ruler of a small Caribbean island nation. Its additions build on the political and economic challenge of governing, with a new campaign and missions designed around the familiar pursuit of a successful term in power.
The expansion introduces new island types and buildings, including a garbage dump, marina and grade school. Its edicts let El Presidente stage an annual festival in their own honor, print money or outlaw a political faction. New traits and appearances offer further ways to shape the ruler, while a loyalist faction brings die-hard supporters into the island’s political landscape.
Absolute Power also adds large landmarks and decorative structures as rewards for political and economic success, giving that success a visible imprint on the island. More radio announcements and a new station provide commentary on the player’s actions. Together, these additions emphasize the expansion’s distinctive mix of city management, political maneuvering and wry presentation, broadening the choices available to a ruler without changing the core premise of governing a Caribbean nation.
