Trapped Dead casts two college students, Mike and Gerald, into a zombie outbreak in Hedge Hill, a small Missouri town in the early 1980s. The infection follows the introduction of genetically modified corn and spreads through the local food chain; the pair encounter the crisis after stopping at a gas station on their road trip. Its horror-film inspiration and cinematic atmosphere frame the story as a survival scenario rather than a lighthearted zombie romp.
The game is a tactical real-time strategy experience viewed from an isometric, third-person perspective. Players guide characters through detailed locations including a mall, jail and scrap yard, using weapons, gadgets and items while responding to traps in an interactive, dynamic environment. Six playable characters and the stated tactical focus give encounters a cast-and-situation emphasis, with shock and surprise elements shaping the design.
Trapped Dead supports single-player alongside online and offline co-op for up to four players. Its co-op mode sits within the same story-driven zombie setting and tactical approach, so its play format is part of the game’s identity, not just a separate arena.
