Train Valley turns railway construction into a compact logistics challenge. Across four historical settings, from Europe and America to the USSR and Japan, players build routes linking cities and negotiate the cost of construction: open fields are inexpensive, while clearing forests, villages, and other structures can be costly. Its historical story scenarios draw on events including the Gold Rush, World War II, and the first manned space flight.
The central puzzle is keeping a growing network moving safely. Players lay tracks, tunnels, and bridges, then use switches, sidings, and spurs to route several trains without delays. Precise control matters at critical moments, but pausing does not stop planning: track building and train scheduling remain available while the game is paused. A roster spanning early steam engines through high-speed trains, together with varied passenger, freight, and military cars, gives the railway its changing character.
Its formats support different approaches to that same network-management premise: story scenarios offer brief, event-led challenges; random mode reshapes and develops a level differently with each launch; and a sandbox-like option removes time and money limits in either story or random play.
