In Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Estelle sets out to find Joshua after he reveals a painful truth about his past and disappears. His farewell leaves her with his harmonica and a determination to pursue him, while the sinister society of Ouroboros moves to throw the Kingdom of Liberl into chaos. The personal search and the wider threat are intertwined: Estelle and her allies must face a national crisis while trying to uncover the conspiracies behind it.
Combat builds on the series’ orbment system, which grants access to Arts, and adds new Crafts and S-Crafts. Quick Battles also gain Brave Rush, letting characters link their attacks. Beyond fights, the adventure offers fishing and poker minigames, cooking with companions, and playable party members drawn from familiar characters. These systems give the journey a mix of tactical encounters, character interactions, and optional diversions rather than focusing on combat alone.
The game is a single-player RPG, so its player-count context is a solo adventure shaped by story progression and individual combat choices, not a shared multiplayer session. Its premise carries forward the events of the first chapter, and players can carry over clear data from that game for bonus items. The search for Joshua gives the sequel its emotional focus, while Ouroboros’s plot expands the stakes across Liberl.
