TORMENTOR casts players as a brutal prison keeper struggling with a mental illness that disrupts memory and brings dangerous blackouts. To preserve clarity, the tormentor relies on an experimental drug obtained through dealings with an underground criminal group on the dark web. The prison itself is a reconstruction project: an abandoned complex set among the ruins of an ancient temple, gradually fitted with tools and prepared for the tormentor’s cruel games.
Its design intertwines investigation, customization, and staged violence. Prisoners’ notes and emails offer clues to their fears and secrets; the player then chooses a tool, turns on the cameras, and tries to force a confession for a live Darknet audience. A character-customization system lets players give victims names, voice tones, and detailed descriptions. The prison can also be made into a revenge arena by arming prisoners and allowing them to hunt the tormentor, while audience exposure is connected to rewards and further opportunities.
The store lists TORMENTOR as single-player, so its play format is centered on an individual managing the prison and its escalating horrors rather than a shared multiplayer session.
