Thriving City: Song is a city-building simulation set in ancient China, with the Song dynasty as its historical backdrop. You take the role of a mayor responsible for turning a struggling settlement into a prosperous city, balancing residents’ necessities with their safety and quality of life. Its period detail extends to buildings, industries, professions, and clothing, while traditional Chinese-style art and animated characters shape the city’s presentation.
Planning connects the game’s many systems: assign jobs, gather resources, and place related facilities to support production, while providing food and other essentials. Growth also depends on education, commerce, and entertainment, from student research and Imperial Exams to poetry and music events. Yet prosperity brings challenges. You must manage crime, prepare for disasters and plagues, and defend the settlement with walls, towers, and trained forces. Policies can improve administration or boost production, but may also harm residents, making governance a matter of trade-offs rather than unchecked expansion.
Story Mode ties city management to the rise and fall of the empire, historical events, and tasks issued through imperial edicts, so time and decisions shape your responsibilities. Adventure Mode instead lets you exercise creative freedom in building a cityscape.
