Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor places players in the cab of familiar engines on the Island of Sodor, with classic and original stories inspired by the Railway Series books and television shows. Its first-person perspective frames the setting as a place to explore as well as a backdrop for narrated tales, with Mark Moraghan providing the narration. The game’s focus is a railway world seen through the characters’ everyday journeys and adventures.
Driving tasks give that premise a hands-on shape: players can carry passengers in Annie and Clarabel, take express passengers over Gordon’s Hill, or haul freight with the Troublesome Trucks. The island also has a working schedule, with engines performing daily duties; players can drive Thomas along his branch line or ride as a passenger. Tidmouth Sheds, Knapford station, the Windmills and other landmarks are part of the setting, while hidden collectables offer things to spot during exploration.
Four play formats support different approaches to Sodor: Stories presents character-focused tales, the Mini Game centers on a Shunting Challenge, Timetable runs trains on ordinary service, and Free Roam lets players place trains and experiment.
