The Troma Project is a turn-based strategy game built around Troma’s deliberately outrageous world. Its story sends The Toxic Avenger and Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD against Surf-Nazis and a devil-worshipping conglomerate, beginning in the stricken streets of Tromaville and reaching other strange locations. The game’s lurid mix of mutant violence, crude humor and splatter horror is central to its identity, not simply a superhero wrapper.
Missions pair tactical combat with a distinctly unruly toolkit: players can collect weapons, drugs and drinks, experiment with inventory, make target shots and blow up cars. Lloyd Kaufman offers advice at the start of each mission, while full-screen movie cutscenes carry the story between battles. The design also draws on its early-2000s origins, combining strategy with a soundtrack and bonus material associated with the original PC CD-ROM release.
Its seven-chapter journey and Troma-specific presentation make the appeal unusually particular: tactical play is wrapped in the franchise’s abrasive comedy, gore and intentionally bad taste.
