The Political Process is a turn-based political simulator built around a custom politician’s career in the American political system. Players choose a party, shape a character’s ideology through policy positions, and select a district drawn from real-life data. Its scope is adjustable, too: district variables such as voter demographics, ideology, and turnout can be customized, letting players define the political landscape they will navigate.
Campaigning is a practical mix of resource choices and persuasion. Across offices from school board to president, candidates develop a platform, fundraise, recruit volunteers, canvass, poll, and hold rallies to affect name recognition and voter enthusiasm. Higher-level play links elections to governing: legislators write bills, work them through hearings and votes, and may take leadership roles that shape what advances. Budgets add another layer, requiring decisions about taxes and public programs.
The distinctive appeal is how political choices connect across systems. A law can influence many in-game metrics, while campaign messaging and legislative votes affect voter enthusiasm and approval. That gives the game a longer arc than an election-only contest, with careers progressing through repeated elections, lawmaking, and budget decisions.
