The Other Side is a paranormal investigation game built around identifying and cleansing entities in haunted locations. Its central loop combines evidence gathering, observing ghost behavior, and completing contract objectives, with environments designed around tracking activity and investigation challenges. Players can investigate alone or work cooperatively, making communication and shared decisions part of the game’s defining format.
The work is divided into identification and cleansing. Investigators use tools to determine a ghost’s characteristics, then enter that information into the Spectral Affixer to reveal artifacts binding the entity to its location. Finding and destroying those artifacts is the next step in banishing it. Proximity-based voice chat supports coordination, while the spirit box offers a way to communicate with fallen teammates. Equipment is shared during contracts, so a team’s loadout and how effectively it uses its tools matter to the investigation.
Between contracts, players can earn money to personalize their characters, loadouts, vehicle, and headquarters; upgrading the vehicle increases how many items can be brought along. The game supports solo play as well as cooperative sessions for up to six players, placing its player-count range in the context of a task-oriented ghost hunt where gathering evidence, coordinating equipment, and cleansing locations are core activities.
