Set beyond the path of Frodo and Samwise, this action RPG tells a parallel story of a new Fellowship defending the North. Its enemy is Agandaûr, a Black Númenórean serving Sauron who has gathered forces in the ruins of Fornost. The premise brings the conflict to familiar Middle-earth locations while focusing on a harsher, less-told front of the war.
The party comprises three heroes with distinct roles: Eradan combines stealth and ranged or melee precision, Andriel supports allies with healing and area spells, and Farin brings resilience and heavy close combat. Players can switch between them, develop skills and abilities, and collect weapons and armor to shape a preferred approach. Battles also draw on Beleram, a Great Eagle called in to attack from above, alongside threats such as Orcs, Trolls and Wargs.
The game supports solo play as well as online or split-screen co-op for up to three players, making teamwork between the heroes a central part of its format. Familiar figures including Aragorn, Gandalf and Elrond appear along the journey through locations such as Rivendell, Lórien and Mirkwood.
