The Invincible puts players in the role of Yasna, an astrobiologist whose scientific expedition to the unexplored planet Regis III becomes a search for missing crewmates. Its first-person perspective frames the mystery through one person’s dangerous journey, while the story’s hard science-fiction roots and atompunk atmosphere give the alien landscape a distinctly retro-futuristic character.
Progress involves investigating clues, reporting discoveries to Yasna’s Astrogator, and making choices that shape the story’s outcome. The game describes eleven possible endings, and encounters with the planet’s varied creatures invite decisions about whether, and how, to interact. Telemeter and tracker tools, alongside driving a vehicle across Regis III, give the expedition practical ways to engage with its environment rather than presenting it only as a narrative backdrop.
Listed as single-player, The Invincible is built around an individual story journey, not a shared-session format.
