The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing puts players in the role of a monster hunter in Borgovia, where mad science threatens a fragile peace between monsters and mortals. The adventure ranges from mountain wilderness to the soot-stained districts of a metropolis shaped by weird science, with Lady Katarina, a ghostly companion, at Van Helsing’s side. Wry humor and snappy dialogue color this gothic-noir setting.
Battles against supernatural foes draw on varied skills and abilities, while a detailed level-up system lets players choose what to develop for the hunt. Skills can also be modified on the spot through a power-up system. Players can tailor Katarina’s abilities, pursue mystical alchemy and forge items, then develop a hideout and place traps to defend it from waves of monsters. These systems bring character progression and preparation together with combat.
The game offers both single-player and cooperative multiplayer, and its cooperative monster hunt supports up to four players. Its blend of gothic adventure, supernatural combat, and supporting systems defines the experience beyond the number of people playing.
