The DioField Chronicle follows the Blue Fox, an elite band of mercenaries who emerge as war engulfs the world. Their deeds may come to represent hope or tragedy, giving the campaign’s conflict a question of honour as well as survival. Its setting combines fantasy, medieval and modern-day influences, framing the story as a turbulent age of human warfare.
Rather than pausing for purely turn-based exchanges, battles unfold in real time as players assess the battlefield and issue orders. Success depends on using troops’ strengths and weaknesses, then choosing among skills, classes and equipment to complete each mission. The tactical focus is therefore on reading changing conditions and directing a force, not simply selecting attacks from a menu.
The game presents these encounters in detailed, diorama-style scenes inspired by the island of DioField, with the player commanding troops like a general.
