The Deed: Dynasty is a standalone expansion built around a grim social puzzle: commit a murder, then persuade the authorities that someone else is responsible. Across three scenarios, players take control of a character from the Bruce family’s ancestry and try to escape suspicion by framing another person. The settings range from a fifteenth-century English castle and a frontier saloon to Dunshiel House, decades before the original game.
Its central challenge is to make the crime point away from its perpetrator. Players choose among period-appropriate weapons, consider which characters could plausibly be implicated, and place evidence where it will encourage suspicion. Conversations also matter: the expanded dialogue system offers more branching options, while decisions can alter the outcome and lead to varied endings. Each scenario features several non-player characters, and almost all can be framed, giving the investigation a shifting cast of possible culprits.
The single-player format makes this a focused, choice-driven adventure rather than a shared or competitive session. The historical settings, flexible framing choices, and consequential conversations are the core of what a session involves.
