The Devil in Me follows a documentary crew drawn to a modern replica of H. H. Holmes’ infamous Murder Castle, where a promising filming opportunity turns into a struggle to survive. The hotel’s unseen observer manipulates the visitors, putting more at stake than the crew’s public standing. As the fourth standalone entry and Season One finale in The Dark Pictures Anthology, it frames its horror around a cast whose individual fates are not fixed.
Exploration and survival give the story its practical edge: players can search the World’s Fair Hotel, solve puzzles with tools, and use expanded movement actions such as running, jumping, and climbing. Elaborate killing rooms and tests of loyalty turn escape into a series of dangerous decisions, while every playable character can live or die according to how the story unfolds. The Curator’s Cut adds scenes from other characters’ perspectives, with further choices and decisions after completing the main story.
The game supports solo play as well as two contrasting ways to share its branching narrative: online with a friend or offline in a five-player pass-the-pad mode.
