The Bibites: Digital Life is an artificial-life simulation built around a provocative premise: life need not be carbon based. Its digital creatures, called Bibites, carry individual brains and genetic information that change over generations. Rather than steering a conventional cast of characters toward a scripted goal, players set the conditions for a living system and observe what natural selection produces.
World-building is a central part of that experiment. Players can adjust physical and biological parameters, then populate custom sandboxes with saved Bibites or templates. They may make survival easier or impose harsh, desert-like conditions. Over time, environmental pressures can lead to roles such as predation and parasitism; neural-network brains and pheromones also allow Bibites to learn communication and cooperation. For players who would rather design than wait, an in-game editor lets them alter creatures’ genetic information and brains directly.
The simulation pairs observation with tools for following what happens: family trees and lineage views trace ancestry, while population statistics and genetic data help reveal change over time. Challenge Levels provide a more directed alternative, putting player-submitted Bibites through trials or against bosses for unlockable content, achievements, and leaderboard competition.
