Terra is approaching a great war, and its corrupt royal family stands at the center of a growing crisis. Players begin as Alexis, a young man with no memory of his past, then travel across the world to unite its nations and uncover his history, destiny, and Terra’s ancient secrets. The journey therefore pairs a broad political struggle with a personal mystery, rather than treating exploration as an end in itself.
Its design combines exploration and character recruitment with a traditional, fast-paced, turn-based battle system. Recruits join the battle party, and the game describes a large cast whose members have distinct personalities; some are optional discoveries rather than story-critical figures. Each recruitable character also has a set of back-story side quests. Alongside the main narrative, players can search for ancient lore, improve weapons and armor, and decorate or upgrade a home hub that gains skills through recruited characters.
The single-player format frames Terra Incognita as a solo adventure built around story progression, party building, and turn-based encounters, rather than shared or competitive play.
