Tasty Chef puts the player in the dual role of restaurant owner and working team member. Rather than progressing through traditional fixed levels, you develop each restaurant as an ongoing business, expanding and personalizing its layout. Cooking equipment, storage, and workstations can be placed freely, so arranging an efficient kitchen is part of the management challenge, not just decoration.
Food preparation is hands-on and varies by recipe: players prepare ingredients, use the required equipment, complete each step, then serve the result to customers. Menus can be adjusted by choosing which unlocked recipes to offer and customizing flavors. Ingredient purchasing, storage, and restocking add another layer of planning, while NPC employees can take orders, cook, serve, and organize supplies. When service gets busy, the player can step back into the kitchen and help.
The documented launch setup features a bubble tea shop and a sushi restaurant, each with distinct recipes, equipment, and workflows; the sushi venue includes conveyor belt sushi. Players can manage the restaurant alone, delegate to NPC staff, or cooperate with friends, with multiplayer supporting shared tasks.
