Set in Japan’s Edo period, Tales of the Orient: The Rising Sun follows Satsu, a geisha, and Miyamoto, a samurai, as they try to preserve ancient Japan. Its adventure framing centers on a story of honor and courage, pairing the historical setting with the goal of helping the two characters save the day.
The match-3 play offers three modes: swap, pop, and chain. Players can also rotate the board to seek better matches, while Challenge mode tests puzzle-solving with limited moves. Alongside the puzzles, the game lets players build an ancient Japanese village, giving its design a progression element beyond matching tiles. Scenic views and relaxing music inspired by the period round out the experience.
Its combination of match-3 variations, constrained-move challenges, village building, and a story-led Edo setting gives the game a more specific identity than a puzzle description alone conveys.
