On Ephinea, a childhood promise binds Asbel, Richard, and Sophie after the three help one another survive an attempt on Richard’s life. Years later, Asbel’s home of Lhant becomes caught in a struggle among the planet’s three great nations, while a larger danger tests the friends’ bond. This remastered action RPG frames its fantasy adventure around friendship and determination, with the characters’ shared history giving the conflict a personal core.
Combat stands out for letting players shift between two styles through the Style Shift Linear Motion Battle System: Artes and Burst. The choice affects the strength and range of attacks, their size, and the distance from which they work best, making positioning part of the action. Character development adds another layer, with more than 100 equipable titles that can be ranked up through battles to teach skills and techniques. Auto-save, skip functions, and an option to turn off encounters in fields and dungeons are also among the listed conveniences.
The remaster also includes Lineage and Legacies, an after-story set six months after the main journey. Sophie worries about her eventual future as strange changes spread across Ephinea, prompting her and her friends to investigate the anomaly. With single-player listed as its play format, this is an adventure centered on one party’s unfolding story and combat decisions, rather than a multiplayer match whose player-count figures describe concurrent participants.
