TAISHO x ALICE episode 1 casts the player as a heroine who wakes in darkness without her memories or name. She meets Alice, another amnesiac, and together they pass through a crystal mirror into the Looking-Glass World, an antiquated fairytale dreamscape populated by gender-swapped storybook characters. The game’s central premise turns familiar fairytales into alternate-universe romances, with the heroine trying to guide her chosen prince toward a happy ending.
At the prologue’s close, players choose a prince and enter the Looking-Glass World. Episode 1 features Cinderella and Red Riding Hood, each with a standalone story and distinct setup: one begins with an arranged marriage and a job at Cinderella’s cafe, while the other involves a threatening letter, Officer Red’s close surveillance, and a case to solve together. Choices at key points lead to different endings, making decisions part of how each route unfolds. The story is fully voiced in Japanese, except for the main character.
As a single-player visual novel, this is a narrative-led experience rather than a game built around concurrent participants. Its defining design is the mix of heroine-led romance, reimagined fairytale roles, and branching outcomes.
